Lonsdale City Tower

Mixed-use high-rise / Technical designLonsdale Street, Melbourne2022

A mixed-use tower proposal for central Melbourne, combining a public retail podium with low- and high-rise office floors, hotel accommodation and a civic-scale crown. The project develops the building from urban massing through structural transfer zones, facade systems and detailed curtain-wall assemblies.

A vertical city

The tower stacks public, workplace and hotel programs into a clear vertical sequence. Setbacks and transfer levels divide the height into distinct volumes, while the transparent podium extends pedestrian movement between Lonsdale Street and Little Lonsdale Street.

Structure as hierarchy

A concrete core and perimeter frame organise the typical floors. Outrigger zones and structural transfer levels stabilise the slender form and register the shift between office, hotel and crown conditions.

An environmental envelope

The facade combines a unitised twin-skin curtain wall with external and internal louvres, operable windows and ventilated grating. Office, hotel and mechanical levels are expressed through calibrated changes in module and depth.
